The Los Angeles Lakers are looking for a successor to head coach Frank Vogel. They say there’s interest in jazz coach Quin Snyder. LeBron James doesn’t care about a lost season.
Lakers: Jazz coach Quin Snyder, candidate for Vogel’s successor
Ahead of the season, Lakers coach Frank Vogel only got a one-year contract extension through 2023, the Californians’ disappointing season didn’t necessarily improve the head coach’s cards from 2020. According to Marc Stein (substack) jazz coach Quin Snyder is being traded in league circles as a possible successor to Vogel.
Snyder has worked for the Jazz since 2014 and most recently led the team to the playoffs five times in a row, but the 55-year-old never made the conference finals with Utah.
Lakers: LeBron James is still in a good mood
With a 131-120 victory in Cleveland, the Lakers again passed the New Orleans Pelicans in ninth place in the Western Conference, but this season should still be considered a disappointment. LeBron James recorded 38 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists, in 18 games against Cleveland, James has won 17.
But the 37-year-old doesn’t want to know anything about a missed season, as many experts call it. “I’m having the time of my life right now,” James contradicted. “The game is very good at the moment.” That a fifth title seems out of reach for the king leaves LeBron unmoved.
“I don’t care what people say about our team. I’m at a point in my career where I turn it off. I don’t read, I don’t listen. I don’t care about any of that. he.
Just over the weekend James overtook jazz legend Karl Malone on the all-time scoring list and is now 1,400 points behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in second place. Direct playoff participation is now only theoretically possible for the Lakers (11 games behind with 12 games left), instead the remaining games of the regular season are just to secure ninth place.
