Star LeBron James led the Los Angeles Lakers to much-needed NBA success with a record-breaking show and gives the record-breaking champion hope for better times again.
The Lakers beat former champions Golden State Warriors 124-116 on Saturday, ending a four-game losing streak. James contributed 56 points to the win, his best ever for a California shirt.
James has only scored better twice in his career
In the four-time MVP career, who has played for the Lakers since 2018, he was the third-highest scorer. He set his personal best (61) for the Miami Heat in 2014. The much-maligned Lakers are still only ninth in the Western Conference with a 28-35 record, but once again signaled their way into the play-in tournament ( places 7-10) for the championship round.
“Desperation” drove the team Saturday night, James said, “just despair. We needed this win, it means a lot. It’s good that we can do this in front of our own fans, they deserve it.” Not only because of the fourth bankruptcy in the city duel with the Clippers, the Lakers have recently attracted the displeasure of their fans.
Warriors in Crisis
The Warriors, for whom Steph Curry scored 30 points, are going through a small crisis, it was their fourth loss in a row. However, as a third in the West, you are clearly staying on course. “They’ve stumbled a little lately, but we’ve stumbled all season,” James said. The Lakers had lost 11 of their previous 14 games.
For the Orlando Magic, the mild uptrend of the past few days ended with a serious bankruptcy – despite the good performance of the German brothers. In the 96:124 with the Memphis Grizzlies, rookie Franz Wagner scored 15 points, Moritz Wagner still scored a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Previously, Orlando had three wins from four games, but with just 16 total wins, the team is at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
